Belongs to the series of emotional drawings: " Encuentros de Café " (Cafe Encounters). I love going to Madrid's cafes and watching the characters that pass by. I tried to make emotional portraits by taking snapshots without being aware of my presence and I wanted to integrate the work into couples who sometimes dialogue and at other times observe each other and think about their own ramblings. They are exercises of synthesis and capture of emotional states around a coffee table. It is like hunting for characters and sometimes it is achieved and sometimes not.

They are made with graphite smile paper on a drawing album. The measures of the drawings are 33 x 23 cm and are mounted on a color cardboard with dimensions of 50 x 70 cm. There are 2 drawings a duo for the price of one.

Annabel Andrews was born in the Isle of Wight in 1940   now lives and works in El Escorial near Madrid Spain, where the colour,  light and volumes of the mountains inspire her work. As also  her friendship with the late Spanish artists Pablo Palazuelo and Jose Guerrero. By preparing her own canvases with home made casein glue base and zinc white the work is light and luminous ready for applying acrylic colours.
