Field Drawing

This work was inspired by paintings of Edvard Munch, Vincent Van Gogh, and Mikhail Vrubel. I was always fascinated by how Munch feels the color, how he contrasts them. Not only composition or stories speak in his works, but colors scream, always scream. Every object seems to be alive in paintings of Van Gogh, one object moves toward the others, or just on its way somewhere else. This work is my experiment not only with colors but with strokes. Van Gogh had his brushes and oil to empower his paintings, I have pastels. So the question was: could I repeat some of the details of the technique of his works? And last but not least - Mikhail Vrubel. Did you notice how "Sitting Demon" looks like a puzzle collected from stone pieces? Fascinating.
