About The Artwork

Artist Josephine Window created Abstract Ink Brush Drawing 9 from the life model. This layered figure drawing is a one of a kind artwork. In Josephine's words: "Ink Brush Drawing is one of my favourite art forms. As a result, this series of work continues to grow. I enjoy this art form because it's never boring. I can use a variety of materials, techniques and mixed media alongside the inks, to create dynamic figure drawings, full of energy and vitality. Method: I take lines, shapes, movements and light effects from the life model. With these elements, I build an abstract layered figure composition. Silver highlights are a special quality I've worked into Ink Brush Drawing 9. Inspiration: My inspiration for Abstract Ink Brush Series comes from the life model in a drawing group (Dynamic Drawing). Here my imagination soon takes over. As a result daily concerns are left behind. The ambience of the scene is inspiring. Woman, body, dance and music are important factors. It's because they provide dynamism, colours and drama and act as catalysts for ideas. The process: I love to create these drawings quickly to music, as it brings freedom, spontaneity and innovation to my expression. Artistic Styles: I use Abstract Expressionist and Gestural styles for my Nudes and Eroticism category. I use these styles because they are the best vehicles for my expression. I like working this way because I love to lay down colours, lines, shapes and movement immediately, in the moment, with no time for thinking. Art Practice: I’ve reached a high point in my artistic journey. This is because of many years of  life drawing, colour studies and experimental techniques. I am a free spirit, and happy to do what I love. I enjoy the process enormously and know I’m lucky. Even so, every new piece has its challenges to resolve. Abstract Ink Brush Drawing 9 was worked from the life model during a Friday morning Dynamic Drawing session in Byron Bay, Australia. I started it in 2019 and finished it in my studio this week (Feb 2022)".   A signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity is included. *️⃣Please Note: Artwork in setting (and frame) is for display purposes only, and is not to scale. © Josephine Window 2022. Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I create my art with passion, happiness and a sense of being lucky. Contemporary abstract style is the most natural to me. Important influences are nature in many forms, the human body and people. As I develop the picture, a story evolves in my imagination. My expression is inspired by life's complexity and energies. Major areas of work are painting and drawing. Painting The subject and style determine whether I work in oils, mixed media or acrylic paints. I love to paint with complex colour interactions and challenging compositions. In my Colour Circle series of oil paintings, my interest is in the dynamics between emotions and visual impact of colour. I use complex colour structures and layers of texture. A formal style brings coherence and harmony to the picture. For me, oil painting is a slow, thoughtful process. Drawing In my current drawing practice I use layers of lines and colours in mixed media to form the composition and develop my ideas into stories. I love to draw quickly and spontaneously to music. The life model, props and music provide the catalyst for me to enter the world of my imagination. I attend weekly Dynamic Drawing sessions at Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia.
