March 31st 2020. A week into lockdown. The shock of it all was easing, and I no longer wanted to spend all day listening to the news. Instead I set to working on my drawing skills, and creating a record of my incarceration. This was my first lockdown drawing. I searched through my girlfriend's cupboard for suitable objects. The cup was crying out to be drawn. It was the first time I'd drawn on Strathmore Toned Gray paper. It's quite a smooth paper, and so I had to adjust my style, but I love how the mid-tone allows you to bring out the highlights so well.
