IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM ARTIST, HARRIET FAITH:
It is with great sadness that I report that some of my artwork was completely damaged in a recent move. I have contacted Saatchi regarding this but because this drawing was purchased just before the weekend of Christmas, they probably haven't actually seen my message. I want to apologize to the buyer of this drawing. I have no doubt that your payment will be refunded and I wanted to thank you for your interest in my work and apologize for the unfortunate circumstances.
Edit: I was advised by staff at Saatchi Online to mark the damaged works as "Sold" so that people can see the work but know it is not available. Thank you.

While I had a studio on the lower east side of Manhattan in 2003, I hired models on a weekly basis (and invited other artists to come and draw with me)

I was inspired so much by the models themselves. Good models give so much during their poses. It is as if they take on a character, inhabit it, and communicate a story of some kind wordlessly.

I drew this figure with white color pencil as a way to go beyond the more conventional pencil on paper....it is a way to really study negative space and I found it made me work harder to find the form in an accurate way. It caused me to leave behind assumptions about what I thought I knew about the figure and to "find" the form of the body in a fresh and new way.

I enjoy drawing nudes, especially on a small scale, as it creates an intimacy with the subject for myself and it draws the viewer in for an intimate experience with the subject and the artwork itself.

PLEASE NOTE: The frame and mat shown in the photo is for suggestion purposes only.... to show how the artwork could possibly look on the wall. Your purchase is the artwork only.

The artwork is 7.25 inches wide x 8 inches high
The drawing is done with white Prismacolor pencil on 100% acid free black drawing paper.
