About the Artist

Alena Masyutina

Finland

– I’m tired of overcomplicating. I choose to simplify. –

Alena Masyutina is a Finland-based artist whose acrylic paintings create quiet imagined worlds where flowers, fruits, fish, and animals become gentle characters with lives of their own. Working with simplified forms, broken proportions, restrained colour palettes, and intentionally subjective space, she develops a distinctive visual language that balances decorative painting with subtle storytelling.

Rather than depicting extraordinary moments, Masyutina finds meaning in ordinary ones. Her paintings celebrate small acts of care, quiet joy, and the beauty of everyday gestures — a ripe apple chosen for someone special, the first strawberry of the season, flowers patiently grown until they bloom, or a simple greeting that reminds us we are not alone. Through these small stories, familiar objects become symbols of affection, hope, and human connection.

Her paintings are gentle reminders that even in difficult times, small acts of care and everyday beauty can help us keep going. She believes that happiness is often built from these quiet moments and shared treasures, inviting viewers to slow down, notice them, and perhaps remember their own.

Masyutina has participated in international exhibitions in Tallinn, Helsinki, and Istanbul, and is a member of HIAA, AGOP, and The Union of Finnish Art Associations. Her practice continues to develop a contemporary visual language where simplicity leaves room for imagination, emotion, and meaningful human connection.
