The Clown, is a performer in the circus of life. Perhaps a metaphor for the drudgery of the day to day office worker. Created by Dan Oliver using oil pastel on paper. The Clown is at it's core a self-portrait of the aspects of me that have performed. I've been on stages for years and the clown i...

Contact us.I no longer operate in a traditional studio; I operate within the physical grid. My practice is an exercise in "Survival Architecture"—a guerrilla-style extraction of raw kinetic energy from highly optimized, often hostile commercial environments.
I classify my physical works not simply as paintings or drawings, but as *Archival Field Notes*. My substrates are rarely pristine canvases. Instead, I weaponize utilitarian, scavenged materials—torn cardboard, reclaimed notebook covers, and discarded packaging. These elements carry the inherent scars, weathering, and physical friction of the environments in which they were created. The damage is not a defect; it is architectural proof of survival.
My visual language is rooted in Outsider Art, Neo-Expressionism, and Brutalism. The conceptual engine driving my work is the "Plucked Flower" thesis: the eternal conflict between rigid, systemic authority (the built environment, the demand for compliance) and raw, uncontained human entropy (the chaotic, wide-eyed panic of the Maker).
You will frequently see strict, geometric frameworks in my pieces being violently overwritten by frantic ballpoint pen and high-saturation ink. This is the visual mapping of that friction. I document the exact moment the localized environment attempts to suppress the creator, and the chaotic energy required to break out of that perimeter.
When you acquire one of my field notes, you are not buying a sanitized gallery object. You are acquiring an uncompromised, tactical artifact pulled directly from the friction of the modern grid.
