About The Artwork
Elizabeth Wojciak’s Reminiscence is a series of mixed media drawings with combination of figurative elements, abstraction and texture. Through this media variation Wojciak aims to create a structure that is charged, interesting and conveys feelings of intimacy, longings and ambiguities of things unspoken, forgotten. Wojciak’s works are best known for her female figures, often dominating the composition. Some of the figures are venerable in their nakedness other boldly present theirs in complete acceptance. Wojciak’s visual language is unique to each drawing, concerned with mood, content and combination of expressionistic brushwork, line and exaggerated shapes and shadows. Her creative process is largely intuitive and through referencing to the figure she allows the drawing to lead her and respond to the marks on the paper. She works vigorously with the confidence constantly re-evaluating color, form and composition.

In my work I strive to convey feelings of intimacy, longings and ambiguities of things unspoken. forgotten. I continue my attraction in themes of the female form, (self-) perception, and the connection between figurative and abstract/expressionist painting. My creative process is largely intuitive and through referencing to the figure I allow the painting to lead me and respond to the marks on the canvas. I use color and expressive brushstrokes to develop language concerned with mood and content.
