Kyle’s outside of the box thinking allows viewers the ability to connect with the physicality of the mixed media works while invoking a conversation of distinction, definition, appropriation and nostalgia while engaging the viewer with a sense of reflection on the past and present, his work has this ability to stay relevant in documentation of time and also plays on ideas of space, language and existence, in the sense of title, image, idea or physicality.
This gives Kyle’s work the ability to portray thought without measuring the potential of what is embodied in the work which may or may not suggest fact.
Kyle’s work also speaks to the grounds of foundational learning or understanding and history. A want to explore.
The number studies are an example of just that, numbers written or spelled to suggest a numerical value with the rhythm of known space. Subject to the interpretation of the viewer. Numbers we understand but numbers spelled out, implying we read or speak to understand or factualize our subjugation, as if spelled out for you to interoperate rather than “understand”.
In Kyle’s “Target” we can think many things but what he suggests directly in the work “Target” is the art historical reference acknowledged and explored.
The palate as if to intend appropriation and skew what we know for further viewer interpretation, meditation and conversation. Kyle’s “Target” is not just a target to take aim at, Kyles “Target” is a deep dive into meditation on the existence of objects and Language and the historical identity of appropriation and convergence of acquired thinking.
Kyle’s work continues to explore this way of conversation, validating the present, in all moments of time. Our learning, understanding, structure, use of languge and image are the root of his work. What we “know” and accept as “fact”, is a reoccurring question he explores in his body of work.
