About The Artwork

La obra intenta reflejar como vive una mujer y sus hijos la violencia de género. Las dimensiones de los dibujos apuntan a reflejar el poder que maneja el hombre violento, frente a la insignificacia en la que creen vivir sus víctimas.

Carmen Cortez, known as Morey, is an Argentine writer and painter who is mostly inclined towards Latin American magical realism in both her pictorial and fictional art. His works are traversed by literary creation and his interpretation of the world between the conscious and the unconscious. It is inspired by the perception of emotions and exclusive problems of human nature, even those unspeakable. He paints portraits and realistic figures in composition with strange and unreal elements that enrich the message of his works. This is the prism with which Morey perceives the world and reflects it in his works: the apparently real and the magical crossing that reality. Her personal and economic situation led her to paint for a long time on wood, stone and any other available element; Until, finally, he was able to start painting on canvas with the need to express his passion for painting and to share it with the world. Morey studied at the National University of San Juan the Bachelor and Professor of Letters careers, where she developed as a writer. This inevitably brought her closer to other art forms. The painting began in her as a game or an outlet. Everything that did not find its place in writing, somehow ended up being expressed in colors and compositions with the same fictional character as his written works. That is why Morey considers his paintings as "narrations in colors". It does not matter where or for whom; Morey paints to exorcise his own demons with the illusion of finding those who, dealing with their own, find in his paintings a similar feeling to empathize with.
