ABOUT THE ARTWORK
One of a series of paintings representing buildings in the Pyrenees (taken from my research on 1939-45 exile of refugees that crossed the Pyrenees in search of freedom. These buildings are testimonies of the first shelters whole families stayed at helped by mountain people. A forgotten part of history? Remembrance - These buildings are still standing and they must be documented. The colourful painting is also a reminder of the nostalgia as an aspect of the first signs of hope those people had if only for a few days.
