Blue Sky in a Grey World_Ascending Spire for Notre Dame Painting

The fire that claimed the roof and spire of the Notre Dame de Paris cathedral, opened a vision of how the present is united with the past. 'Blue Sky in a Grey World' depicts looking beyond a troubled world, reflecting on heaven. The inclined glass panels create a view of the sky from many angles, as is our perception of life. The newly created upper sanctuary houses the statues of the apostles, previously adorning the rooftop. The flowing sculptural design of the bronze spire represents the endless circles and spirals of life, made straight in the ascension to heaven. Oil paint was chosen to best represent the materials of construction, and to give the attention to detail needed for this subject.
