About The Artwork
Society binds and restrains us in many ways. My 'Being, Bound/Unbound' series of works explores this... Being, Unbound 8 is an abstracted nude female figure, obscured from view by being cast within a rough slab of glass, lit only by bars of light, seen but unreachable. The figure is created by the application of bronze within clear cast glass using a hand-cut stencil, painted and laminated after kiln casting to canvas and framed. It's ready to hang. (The apple? That's there to help you see the scale of the work. If you like it, you'll have to supply your own!)

Tony Roberts was born in Kent in 1946. His professional career as an artist started early, working with pen and brush as a young monk. Now, in retirement and long out of monastic life, his artistic practice has greatly expanded, including glass sculptures and canvas works in private and public collections worldwide, mostly to commission. Much of his current work involves multiple disciplines and media in each single work.
