About The Artwork

Parents feelings of regret usually being dealt with kids being pushed into certain activities, behaviours or even career paths which have never been chosen by the children themselves, increase the levels of anxiety and depression which often lead to self medications such as drugs, alcohol or other substances and addictions. In ''Boys First Lesson'' Stefo.S manages to express these levels of stress and anxiety in the little boys facial expressions which indicate fear, sorrow and anxiety with the face sinking towards the ground with the glance facing a huge pile of blocks that are getting bigger and bigger but on the other hand the teacher seems proud, strict, authoritative and austere with his glance being launched to the highest point of the painting without any chance of going down and his arrogant nose keep moving towards the sky. Boys life has been chosen by others and he is not happy anymore.

“Τα πάντα ρει, και μηδέποτε κατά αυτό μένει» (everything flows, and nothing remains the same), Heraclitus 5th-6th century BC. The Greek philosopher with the above expression supported the idea of continuous movement, that our life is constantly changing, it is never the same, and that whatever remains immobile is considered dead. Using this idea I completely identify myself with the philosophers thoughts and I would like to keep myself in this constant movement. I always try to develop, educate myself and take advantage of the best opportunities that life brings my way. My desire to travel lead to an amazing experience in the Italian city of Florence, I completed my studies with the maximum of honors in Florence’s Fine Arts Academy and perfected my Italian language skills. I decided to then move to the Spanish city of Barcelona for a postgraduate degree in Artistic and Creative Therapies. I then decided to advance my knowledge and skills in the field of Special Needs world that fascinated me and embarked on a new master’s degree in Special and Inclusive Education. I have worked with students who have a range of different needs, (Autism, ADHD, Childhood Schizophrenia, and Dyslexia) who have needed support for a combination of social, behavioural and academic issues and these aroused more questions and matters in my head. I used to believe that art was my getaway to all the difficulties I came through during my life in this world, but now I am realising that art was indeed my life, my world, my everything! A place where only those who have experienced can understand. I have now dedicated all my space and time to the creation and exploration of new techniques and methods and trying to produce the max I can every day!
