ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is my first piece of 2019. I often stretch my canvases myself so I have linen left-overs. I used one of these pieced to paint a sort-of street art work onto it. It's rough and edgy and the canvas is a bit frayed which I left purposely. Please note that the mat is actually whitish and not as grey as on the cover image. Bad wintery light here in Germany at the moment which is not ideal for making photographs. I apologize for that. I used artist quality acrylic colors and oil pastel. The work itself is 32.5 x 20.5 cm / 12.8 x 8.1 in. I sell the work with an off-white mat. With mat it is 40 x 30 cm /15.7 x 11.8 in. It is sprayed with a glossy varnish to protect it from UV-rays and dust.

ARTIST STATEMENT: Life is a largely subjective experience; but that subjective experience is my bridge to the objective world. And it’s this synthesis of the two that I am trying to capture. INSPIRATION AND PROCESS: I love experimenting and want to give my works an individual expression. I have two lines of work: I love painting almost (but not quite) realistic, somewhat utopian, nature images and on the other hand I really enjoy doing non-objective/abstract art. I am inspired by the beauty and power of natural phenomena, the mystery of nature, its colors and forms. Every painting is a one-of-a-kind work in which I try to combine feeling and thought. I work most of the time with acrylics but I also mix acrylics with other media such as oil pastel, soft pastel, spray paint, graphite and charcoal or ink. All materials I use, if canvas, paper or paints are of artist quality.
