About The Artwork

Finnish title: Purkutuomiolla Size listed is with the frame, without the frame the painting is 50 x 40 cm. The frame has been treated to prevent mold and repainted where the treatment damaged the surface. I still intentionally kept the worn and tattered look of the old, wooden frame. This painting is kind of a complementary piece to Tuuliajolla/Adrift because they're similar and both have these super old wooden frames and and similar themes. They don't go together perfectly because I didn't do this one as precise and detailed as the other one and this is much smaller. They still have similar vibes though. I wanted to mimic the translucent look of tempera painting for the skirt even though I used acrylics. I had some trouble naming this one because I'm not even entirely sure what the piece means to me. I left it unfinished for a few months so I might have grown somewhat detached from my original thought process in that time. Normally I have a name ready the day I finish a painting but this one I had to think about for a week or so.

FYI, I also have smaller pieces for sale on Etsy. Link on my website. :) I was born in 1992 in the heart of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland. I was an art line student in upper secondary school (in Lyseonpuiston lukio) and continued on to study graphic design in University of Lapland, where I got my bachelor's and master's degrees with a major in graphic design and minoring in art history. I am now trying out a new path with psychology education while I paint, draw and customize dolls in my free time. I suppose a lot of my art could be considered "vent art". I like to put my difficult and strong emotions into my art and use it to deal with difficult questions I'm grappling with. I also like to use art as another vessel for my interests in alternative fashion and whatever else I may find myself obsessed with. My favorite mediums to work with are colored pencils and acrylic paints.
