About The Artwork
'Deep Silence' is about the younger generation's voice and prolific amount of plastic in the sea. Is this what the generation is feeling, the deep silence forced by the figure floating under the water. The figure's feet clad Styrofoam boots, he's feet floating like Jesus above the water, are the second coming?! the younger generation that will make the sacrifice and they will also not be heard. The piece is painted on Beech plywood that has been oiled with tung oil with many layers and many hours of drying and sanding in between. All paints are Michael Harding's artists oil colours. This also comes with 2 x D rings for easy hanging. also the piece has been varnished with a semi-gloss. Work is signed on front of the piece.
