About The Artwork

USA Fires and those in Australia inspired this work. When I visited Kangaroo Island I saw the green regrowth of the plants, impressive in such a short time. Nature grows again and is incredibly resilient. I feel a sense of hope and optimism after Earth’s fires. The inevitable growth of new plants followed by the return of insects are both restart our eco system. My smiles return. Happiness is restored. Pouring paint on the wet section of large duck cotton un-primed canvas allow it to be absorbed. Paint trails across the dry section represents the linear randomness of uncertainty. Deliberate coloured sections link it all together fire's colours and the green represents the start of a new part of our world. Stretchers, frame and hanging hardware required

Jan Stevens NAPA Theme - Celebratory, Joyful and Fresh Abstract Art Interest - Free style painting, paint flowing into water, space on earth and beyond our blue planet Vision - Create smiles from words, colours and shapes My abstract art embraces my nature and our blue planet in each painting. In our world, nature lives with effortless ease embracing its surroundings, adapting and evolving as environments change. Together, in harmony Nature loves and moves on. I hope my art encourages love, fun and harmony. My abstract paintings develop through inspiration in the moment. Colours are applied liberally and freely. Inspiration comes from green and blue spaces on our planet including golf courses, coastal landscapes and everyday life. Cornish raised, state-educated, global business wise and South West London living celebrate my creativity through fusion. Combined with a sense of curiosity, wonder, community spirit and justice brings wisdom, balance, compassion, heart and fun to my art. Viewers emotions vary and can range from colourful appreciation to surprise, thoughtful to inspirational or playful to magical. Maybe the Cornish Pixie’s magic comes through. My abstract contemporary art provides me with a natural sense of freedom of expression which I love. When viewers discuss my art, it surprises and delights me to hear the fun stories my paintings awaken. Www.Napauk.co.uk www.janstevensart.com Techniques I enjoy mixing my greens from yellows and various shades of blues. Each painting creates movement through speedily applied shapes which when combined with solid shapes give depth, stillness and clarity in the ever changing unpredictable world we live in. I explore water based paints - acrylic, water colour and gouache. I use gels too. Paint application techniques include pouring, brush, roller, tape, cloth, credit cards and hands. My style is to create movement pouring on the base layer, then paint solid shapes creating fun and clarity, inside and outside the painting. My intention is to produce confident, playful art that brings a smile. ENJOY.
