The Space Anfractuous paintings are formal and spatial explorations that are fueled by the notion which embraces the immensity of the complexities of a being. The process of comprehending a foreign idea involves a distortion of meaning that breeds new ideologies and questions. This particular distortion interests me, and my paintings are explorations on similar lines. Space Anfractuous is a metaphor for a smooth mixture of ambiguities and ambivalence – like ethereal forms, juxtapositions, and multilayered folds of meanings – that exists in perhaps every possible substance. The explorations wrap these several frames and invite the spectator to experience them simultaneously. The paintings invite multiple points of view and traverse the ethereal boundaries between art and architecture, being and non-being, material and memory, expressions, and the presence of the inexpressible. The viewer is invited for a dynamic contemplation, taking a deeper dive, layer after layer becoming involved with the painting. The paintings attempt to impose a unique flow of energy, where the viewer’s gaze moves and glides through the canvas, subjecting them to a deeper inquiry. The works propose an experience designed to manifest the quality of the unknown and the infinite. They attempt to engage the mind in certain transformations, involving with the subjective experience of the spectator, leaving the spectator to discover it. It’s a journey both ways. Taking a deeper dive into something ambiguous, multi-dimensional, and multi-layered, and leaving the current reality and forms of relations and comprehensions behind. The Anfractuous paintings are suggestions of architectural space and aesthetics. I see these paintings as individual beings existing in space and time. I believe that complex systems like art and architecture should not be immured in one definite thing, and our explorations should go beyond the idea of ‘either-or’ and embrace the idea of ‘and-both’. I always found myself refuting with the notion of the “absolute”. In my opinion, I feel that absolute is a collusion and my body of work tries to respond to that, it is sort of ambiguous, multidimensional, and leaves you to discover it. I like to work with the idea of conscious and subconscious. Although I believe that everything that happens is a product of the two, it is just bound to happen, they drive everything, but I like to deliberately fuse conscious and the subconscious in my works. I see Space Anfractuous as the confluence or the meeting point of the conscious and the subconscious. The whole act of the creative process informs my works. The workflow adopted embraces processes and ideas like free-hand drawing, intuitive ideation, and subjectivity – and I like to see them in action in my works.
