I grew up as a cartoonist and eventually became a humorous illustrator in NYC. I was exposed to the Pop Art scene in the 80's in NY and loved their bold colors. Keith Haring is one of my favorites but I also like some of the great illustrators like Bob Peak and the washes he would do. I love the way Drew Strusen's movie posters are a collage of little vignettes that are so perfectly designed. There's an energy to this piece, which is called "Magnetic Attraction", that I love. The centerpiece is this powerful design pulling everything into the center. And if you look past into the background layers, you'll see so much more detail. I was a professional airbrush illustrator 20 plus years ago. I loved how it worked but I was starting to paint larger. I picked up spray paint over the last five years because it allowed me to work on bigger canvases with bold acrylic color.
