About The Artwork
"Things are not what they appear to be, its how they interact that shows you what they really are." Mixing Worms is an exploration in how things grow and change when they interact with something new. A gray black ground is broken with black and white lines. When the lines meet they release a burst of colour in the simplest shape possible, a worm. As each worm crosses another it changes colour in reaction to the one it passes on a strict colour scheme. Red and blue make purple, but, purple and red make blue continuing the circle. Blue, yellow and green their own circle and purple, orange and green their own. The only way to tell what colour a worm is is either by catching it when it's not crossing something or knowing the colour pattern.

Although I can remember wanting to be a painter when I was just 5 years old and my art and its' study have always been a part of my life, serious focus on the work only started in 2011 when I moved into the studio in the Mirvish Village in Toronto. My earlier visual arts study was heavily focused in Western Classical traditions and portraiture but it was a switch from oils to the vibrant colours of acrylics that gave me the tools I needed to express how I see the world.
