The concept is from my imagination but includes references to plants that can be found in a tropical or rain forest situation. I am inspired by the abstract patterns that are made by the juxtaposition of colours, shadows, other plants, and the light through them. I hope this bring a feeling of relaxation and confidence to the viewer. I find these paintings meditative. I chose acrylic on canvas for its workability, which permits the painting layers and impasto whilst picking up the colours underneath.
