“Protetto per la notte” the seventh painting from my series called “Serie di Venezia” which features interesting scenes I have visited in my travels to Venice Italy. This particular scene is very common in Venice however, the way the gondola was tied up all by itself really caught my attention as it sat peacefully in the evening shade watching the sun set on the buildings behind it. Once again, just a seeing I could not pass up capturing. This piece is painted on a pre-stretched canvas and framed with a custom frame I made. This painting is complete and ready to hang. Painting Details: -Custom built canvas stretcher built by the Artist, 24x38” prepared with 3 coats of Blick Professional Gesso and an additional original painting “under coat” of Red and Orange Oil Paint -Brushes; Grumbacher Bristle Flat #2, #3, #4, Round #1, Winsor & Newton Bristle Filbert #2, Princeton Bristle Flat #2, #3, Davinci Kolnsky Flat #2 and Escoda Clasico Chungking White Flat #6 #8 -Paint; Winsor & Newton Artist Colour, Gamblin Artist Oil, Old Holland Oil Colors, Blockx Oil Colors and Sennelier Artist Oil. 12 different base colors mixed to hue and varying thickness. Liquin and Colbalt dryer agents used to thin paint and speed-up “drying” time - Final painting was sealed using 2 coats of Gamvar High Gloss after two(2) month “drying” time Custom Frame Details: Shadow Box style frame made of Red Oak by the Artist exclusively for this painting in 2021. - Frame dimensions are 26x40x2.6” - Shadow width ¼” from canvas to frame and the frame edge width is 3/4” wide - Frame is Stained and Varnished with 2 coats of Dark Ebony Satin finish - 100lb. rated picture cable (overkill I know…) through stainless steel eye-hooks is used to hang the entire piece. (20lbs. total weight for canvas and frame) As always, I welcome the opportunity to discuss making a similar Original Commissioned Piece (it will NOT be a copy, but shall have the same feel as the original).
