With the stay in Empress Maria Fedorovna in Kiev, the construction of the second railway bridge across the Dnieper was connected. On August 20, 1916, Her Majesty took a personal part in the triumph of the laying of this building. She and her retinue were taken by ship to the place of bookmarking. Then the empress went to the caisson (a supporting structure immersed in the bottom of the river), where she laid the symbolic first stone at the base of the bridge. At the beginning of 1917 the bridge was almost ready, it was given the name of Empress Maria Fyodorovna. He just wore it in just a few weeks ... the first version of the bridge began to collapse three months after the end of construction, the Dnieper literally eroded the wooden bridge named after Empress ... Subsequently, the northern railway bridge was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt, in our time the appearance of its farms is markedly different from the original. And they usually call it Podolsky or Petrovsky.
