About The Artwork
I was inspired by the Monarch butterfly and its ability to travel so far in order to continue reproduction. It is fragile and but also robust. It's life cycle never ceases to amaze me - metamorphosis is a truly beautiful process. I would like the viewer to contemplate this fragile process and the fragility of life. Watercolour and gouache help to convey the fragility of this process - the overlays of colour and shapes capture the changes that occur during metamorphosis

I was born and brought up in Surrey. My father was Indian and mother from the north of England, Barnard Castle to be precise. They met in Cambridge where my father was studying medicine and my mother was a nurse.They worked together at Addenbrooks Hospital. I am one of four children - my brother is the eldest, then myself and two younger sisters. My anglo Indian heritage is a constant influence in my life and work.
