"The Duke" Hero Series A role model in the American psyche for decades, a great man, much more than a cowboy. Battled cancer twice. Cared about others a great deal. An adventurous, expressive painting, with a modern flair, of John Wayne, his strength of character and persona, deceptively difficult as each and every line and hair, glint and shadow, all must come together just so, in order to capture this great face, a face beloved all over the world, for the seven decades of his life and beyond. My first love is classical work but I am drawn to the spontaneous, expressive nature of abstract and impressionistic work and find that my old masters techniques work well in those genres. I find inspiration everywhere I look, what a miraculous world!
