About The Artwork
I was commissioned by MediaCorp to create a piece of artwork for a weekly show "On The Red Dot" on Channel 5. One series within the On The Red Dot show is called “ Vanished Places”. It will consist of 4 episodes that’ll air in April, with each focusing on an iconic local venue that no longer exists in Singapore. My challenge was to recreate the various amusement parks in the 60's, New World, Great World and Happy World. I've never been to any of the Worlds before. So i can't really draw from my memories. Instead, I need to draw from others people's memories. So I have created this surreal dreamy like landscape. A lost paradise that's filled with fun, excitement and adventure. A total freedom of worries, and troubles.
