"Tokyo,
emptiness,
nothingness and a crowded building,
mu.."

Inspired in Tokyo, this painting has the japanese kanji for 'nothingness' ('mu-na' in japanese), but you can't really read it, you can only intuit it. Is part of my work "strata" where I investigate about the human processes and what we see and we don't see, and what's happening behind the surface.

This work is inspired in my series "strata" where I paint one layer over another trying to convey the changing nature of things. At the end the only thing we see is the surface, but there is much more behind, there is a story in every person, every object, every landscape. Layer over layer I search to achieve the pleasant but impermanent quality of things in it's natural state.

The painting is rich in textures, rough and scratched in some parts, soft and delicate in others. Splashed painting and calligraphy techniques are used to give more deepness and meaning to the piece.

As with most of my work, can be displayed from any direction, even though I prefer the direction in the photograph.

When I paint, I try to transmit the connection I feel with life, with people, with feelings and sensations. With just a few brushstrokes I want to be able to express my mood, my emotions and connect with the viewer. Every color is a memory of the past, and also is a new emotion, a new energy. If you have the proper painting, with the view of it you can change your mood and the world arround you will change.
