About The Artwork
This was completed 10 October 2015 for Inktober. It is an illustration of a still from Vampyr by Carl Theodor Dreyer. In the silent film, this character rings a bell as a symbolic ushering in of death. The film is a fantastic, creepy masterpiece with lots of gorgeous imagery. This is a timeless image, a reminder of human mortality. It was really fun to make, and I think the watercolor paper helped the black look beautifully smooth.
