This painting belong to the series ‘The nine conscious experiences of being’
Are self-portraits while experiencing those emotions depicted on the title.
It started in the summer of 2012, and took me 5 years to complete.
The most difficult part was that once I found myself in that emotion or feeling from ‘the nine conscious experiences of being’ and then rush to my studio, or where ever I can to sketch and paint on the go.
Several attempts, and many sketches got me to these set of paintings.
The self in our contemporary times is heavily influenced on social media, with platforms automatically depicting our person in the easiest way, I believe a ‘selfie’ means something deep from our own subconscious and more of a new way to reflect ourselves without a mirror.
The nine conscious experiences of being is in relation of getting aware of oneself and the experience of the feelings or emotions one goes through life.
Having a sense of selfhood or soul with in one self’s emotions and come to terms with what triggers that as irrelevant, focusing only on the emotion itself.
Universal feelings or emotions that everyone at some point experience.

Fernando Holguin Cereceres 5537 (b.Chihuahua México, 1967) lives in London since 1995. Multidisciplinary Portraying humanity. I work in different media. I would describe myself and my work as the need to illustrate my surrounding environment and what I witness in these contemporary challenging times. I seek to separate the normal thinking, the assumed idea. And the subject, conceptual or not, matters as a defining case. Please feel free to contact me: Fernando@5537gallery.com
