About The Artwork

Study on negligible architecture aims to challenge the preconceived notions of neighbourhoods by accepting their aesthetical inadequacy and welcoming their constitutive diversity. The project explicitly deals with the notions of identity and diversity in urbanism. The visual diversity of the neighbourhoods expresses a variance threatened by the urge for inclusiveness. With this work I propose to give voice to the undeclared presence of peripheral districts and their decadent spirit.

I am a photographer and communication specialist. My studies concern corporate communication and advertising and I am expert of communication philosophy. My pictures were exhibited and featured in catalogues in European Countries among which Italy, Finland, Greece and Switzerland. As a young photographer I expect my working life to be in the field of architectural photography, mainly. As for my personal life, I often find myself gathering, culling and selecting pictures I have taken weeks before. On the whole, this is the way I edit my series: tracing back to an idea (or an intuition) that well associate groups of pictures. More and more I am dedicating time to sharpen my vision in documentary and street photography. In my academic career I conducted an analysis on the eidetic properties of the photographic image and on the dynamics of photographic practice intended as a political action. In recent years I developed a deep sense of dissatisfaction in regard to how the photographic medium is involved in mainstream media usage. The idea that the photographer catches a certain moment in time, coming from Cartier-Bresson, still keep its charm among photographers while much more is to be investigated and analysed yet. Following the readings of Barthes, Flusser and Arnheim I seek to explore the unique features of photographic medium in the broader system of Arts. More than just a trick on the timeline of our lives, photography works as a relevant catalyst in the politics of everyday life: it enhances our perception that something “has-been” (which doesn’t mean it give us coordinates in space and time); it allows a different degree of reproducibility; it imply the direct and close presence of the photographer in the frame of the scene; it suggests the unseen beyond the edge of the lens -namely, what is left behind the given degrees of sight-.
