About The Artwork
Monotype is a technique of applying ink on the plate with a roller, a brush, or other tools available, and then printing it directly onto the paper. This means that there is always just one copy of the piece, and that the result is always surprising. It also means that out of the many attempts, I usually only find a few to be good enough to be shared with the world. This print is the first in a series called "Boxer". These are all interpretations of Michelangelo's "Beirded Slave", where I turn the gesture of the heavy hand pulling downwards into the boxer's glove.
