Pointing out New Horizons… The 'Painter's Heaven' series was made as a tribute to my favourite painters of all time. Many of them suffered during their lifetime for making the world a more beautiful place. So I imagine that in heaven they are given a flying machine out of their own art, while flying through a self-made heaven. All backgrounds and clouds are painted in oil and the quotes of their work are sampled digitally. Making the whole series a mixture of ancient and new techniques. It is published on 290 grams Hahnemuhle photorag paper printed by the artist himself in his studio on a Epson 9800 printer. Like Rembrandt who had his own etching press and went out selling his own prints when times were rough Kamiel prints his own "money" when still working on projects and running out of money. You may think a digital process is easier than handwork but in the end, if you want to reach perfection digital is just as much a pain in the ass as handwork. Maybe even more.
