I spent many years in my youth pouring over books filled with images of traditional Japanese woodblock prints and sumi-e ink wash paintings. The balanced representation of tranquil beauty and authentic emotions captured in both types of work still remain embedded into my consciousness as sources for inspiration. In "Lily", I sought to capture the understated emotional beauty of a single flower - the wild lily, a common and somewhat unappreciated flower growing in clusters between the roads and houses where I live in Michigan - while exploring the same thought process and techniques used in traditional Japanese art. I chose a fine Japanese paper as the foundation for the woodblock print. Art is mounted to archival mat board (removable) and comes with the artist's signed Certificate of Authenticity. Size indicated is the size of the image; the paper and mat board are larger. Also available framed (additional shipping charges apply). Framed size: 24.5 inches wide, 30.5 inches tall, 1.125 inches deep.
