Art Description

Printmaking: Drypoint, Etching, Ink, Paper on Paper, Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric), Other.

This etching was inspired by a 1987 photograph I took on the side of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. PRINT & TECHNICAL INFORMATION: This original etching was published and hand printed by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (US). I used a zinc plate that measured 8 inches high by 10 inches wide, or 20.320 cm by 25.400 cm. My special ink application techinques and plate wiping manners produce an effect that combines etching with a monoprint. Five separate Nitric acid baths and plate reworkings took place. The Rives BFK white paper (France) measures about 16 inches wide by 12 inches high. French, oil-based etching inks were carefully blended to craft my unusual colors. A mulberry bark paper from Thailand was employed in my Chine collé process. THIS PRICE INCLUDES: THE MATTED ETCHING IN AN ARCHIVAL MAT; A FRAME (16 inch x 20 inch, Type – Glass & Wood Edge / Semi-Ornate Style, Color - Gold); ALL HANDLING COSTS; SHIPMENT COSTS; CARDBOARD SHIPMENT CARTON; BUBBLE WRAP & OTHER PACKING MATERIALS; AND, A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. The work is wired and ready to hang. Framing includes a brown craft paper backing. A wall hook and nail are included.
