I was on a very cold, misty, day travelling from somewhere to somewhere else on a leaky old bucket of a ferry. I smoked in those day's, and would, as often as I could go out on deck to do so. Whilst there I would look in wonder at the many thick layers of white paint, that did a terrible job of masking the rust. I bubbled out in great blisters, and it mesmerised me. So much time later, and with time to do so, I lightly copied the effect. I used matt paint, instead of gloss, I used acrylic instead of solvent based, and I used Cor-Ten steel, Instead of iron. I also sculpted a dog, instead of a boat. I enjoy the outcome immensely .

Christopher Stone (b.1955 London) is a highly acclaimed British artist. After leaving school, he undertook a city and guilds apprenticeship in cabinet making. Later, turning to art he began studies at Central Saint Martins, Hornsey College of art, and later under the great Welsh sculptor Barry Flanagan. Over the years he has achieved an international following for his famous Podenco hounds. He has exhibited Internationally for over three decades. Christopher's work is included in many private, corporate, and museum collections worldwide. His work is his way of attacking philosophical questions that arise in life repeatedly, and although he takes his work very seriously he often manages to find somewhere to slip in a little humour.
