About The Artwork

It was affected by the paintings of Lerry Poons. I focused on the rejuvenation by drawing out the materiality of the paints positively. This scene is a memorable memory of the past, but the memories I received at that time became more and more vivid and exaggerated to find myself in spite of the interval of time. The paintings by Larry Poons were very improvisational and musical to me. It is interesting that the irony is that it can touch a very old past.

I was born in Seoul, Korea, and was taught by the first generation of Western painters in Korea at the University of Fine Arts and got a master's degree in Seoul ,Korea After that, I almost completed my abstract self-taught. and gradually developed abstraction in geometric art. I was greatly influenced by the American abstract artist Joan Mitchell and Larry Poons the musical rhythm more strongly on the surface of the painting. I think of the canvas as a scene and compress the music. I look for ways to solve the shapes that appear in my paintings in baroque and modern architecture, the structure of nature, and the landscapes of large cities. I not only liked the colors of Henri Matisse and Pierre Bonnard, but also studied the flatness with a bit of perspective. And although my paintings are abstract and expressive, I do not give up the impressionistic expression of light and form at all.
