"...Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along." Rumi Echoing a line from one of the poems of the greatest Sufi mystic, the painting translates in a visual form the simple yet deep idea that love that we seek is not somewhere else, but within us. This ancient story is always fresh, and it's so familiar but also so new to everyone, we all keep discovering and learning it over and over since the beginning of time - building and then surrendering the barriers of selfhood and realizing that it has always been here, love and the lover and everything has always been one. Unity as a harmony of opposites is also being emphasized through the symbolic contrast of using delicately shimmering heavy body golden paints to weightless areas of floating rich deep shades of terracotta, with accents of pure white.Original painting on silk. Unique "Graphics on Silk" technique, self-developed by the artist. Acrylic based paints are rated archival quality from Germany and France, designed specifically for painting on fabric and the highest quality natural silk has been sourced from Uzbekistan. The surface of the painting is water and UV resistant, and colours won’t fade over decades. The artwork is covered with archival quality varnish as a final layer. It has a fine and elegant satin finish and protects silk against dust and other elements.

Julia Ismambetova was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Almaty State University (ASU) in 1995. Between 1996 and 1998, she taught and lectured in the ASU Arts and Crafts department, before pursuing her artistic career full-time. Julia creates her art using a batik technique, and has been known to describe her self-expression as akin to ‘graphics on silk’. She freely admits that she was won over by the unlimited opportunities and diversity that batiks can offer to the artist. The batik technique is a rather complex and painstaking type of fabric painting, requiring the artist’s patience, skill and ultimately, mastery. Julia has been working with this technique for almost two decades now, and has succeeded to combine this ancient craft with her own unique style and modern elements. Julia has exhibited widely almost every year since 1998, in Kazakhstan, at Christie's Auction House in London (UK) and in New York City. Individuals and corporations around the world, including in Kazakhstan, Russia, Spain, South Korea, the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden and Israel, have purchased her original artwork for their residences and offices, and the rights to her images for marketing purposes.
