About The Artwork

This painting portrays Vasant Ritu (the Indian Spring season) in which the atmosphere has turned colorful with the purple/violet bloom of Neeli Gulmohar (Jacaranda Mimosifolia). The Golden Oriole has arrived in North India from Southern India to spend the six summer months in search of food and to breed. Some 1500 years ago, the great ancient poet Kalidas wrote a lyrical poem named Ritu-Sanhaar in Sanskrit language. Season means Ritu and Ritu-Sanhaar means description of seasons. Kalidas divided the Indian year in six seasons. . the six seasons are Summer (4th May-30th June), Monsoon (1st July-12th Sept), Post Monsoon (13th Sept-26th Oct), Pre Winter (27th Oct-24th Dec), Winter (25th Dec-4th Mar), and Spring (5th Mar-3rd May). Over the years I too have recorded my observations of nature including flowers, trees, birds, festivals and cultural activities in India. Paintings in Ritu-Sanhaar series are portrayal of Kalidas's writings and my observations. This painting can be hung together with Indian Spring-12

In 2019, Goldman Sachs India acquired 11 of my works for their newly built corporate office in India. Among possessors of around 100 works of mine are senior corporate executives from Disney, Deutsche Bank, Boston Consulting Group, Bank Of Tokyo etc.; academicians, diplomates, and art collectors. I primarily do Watercolors. These are story/philosophy based, involving strong imaginary compositions, and a bit of surrealism. The inspiration comes from literature, nature study, and worldwide travels. The paintings are soft, serene, and vibrant. The admirers describe these as "Happy Paintings". Recognitions: -Select Exhibit - AIFACS New Delhi and Camlin Foundation (3 times each) -Exhibition of the year 2014-India Habitat Centre New Delhi, published in their annual journal -Nominated General Council Member of Sahitya Kala Parishad, an Academy of Delhi Government to promote and propagate art & culture in the city of Delhi, India
