Lolita Molinero was born in 1965 in Dniprodzerzhynsk (now Kamianske), Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukraine. She currently lives and works in Odesa. Her professional career began with interior and furniture design. For the past 14 years she managed her own art glass studio, creating unique art and stained glass projects. Despite her passion for glass, Lolita has always continued to create paintings and graphic art, participated in exhibitions. At the present time she focuses on her art, working with geometric abstraction and figurative characters. She uses canvas, cardboard, oil, acrylic as well as ballpoint pens and colored pencils on paper, allowing her to experiment with textures and techniques. She finds her inspiration in the fashion world, theatre, architecture, design and traditional arts and crafts. Having an architectural background as her main education, she is close to geometric abstraction - both in graphics and painting. Her works are laconic, clear and minimalistic. Artist Statement: "My art explores the eternal dilemma: how to find a balance between the longing for a soulmate, spiritual intimacy and self-sufficiency. This process - is a central theme of my work as it reflects deep human needs in love, understanding and acceptance, preserving own integrity and internal freedom in the same time. I believe that modern society is at a turning point between the desire to sincerely express theirs feelings and fear of the cynicism and sarcasm of the surrounding world. In my art I tend to create the space where this conflict can be resolved. I use painting - canvas, oil, acrylic - as a means of expressing my thoughts on how we can reconcile theses two seemingly opposite desires. Inspired by personal experiences and observations, I explore how the need for spiritual intimacy faces the need to be self-sufficient. My works manifest that finding a soulmate does not necessarily means losing yourself; on the contrary, it can be a way to true self-sufficiency, when we can share ourselves without losing our uniqueness. My goal is to continue to develop this topic, find deeper meanings and help society to harmonize the contradictions between internal and external aspirations. My art invites to think about searching a balance without sacrificing own essence and freedom."
