Contact us.Caroline Banks is An Anglo-French artist based in London whose practice explores the circularity of energy and the memory of gesture.
After graduating in Mixed Media Textiles from Loughborough University, she worked as an artist and designer for both fashion and interiors.
She moved to India in 2001, initially for 1 year with an NGO then lived and worked in India, China and Vietnam before returning to the UK at the end of 2007. She began exhibiting again in 2014 and is now fully focussed on art.
Her process begins with drawing, developing into painting and sculpture. She uses a variety of materials such as paper, canvas, metal, wood and acrylic, often using discarded and neglected materials, whatever fits her requirements at the time.
Her practice explores the circularity of energy and the memory of gesture, the mystery of time and the interconnection of all things.
Caroline works with galleries, art consultancies and directly with collectors. She has exhibited at art fairs including The Other Art Fair in the UK and USA and the Affordable Art Fair in London. Much of her work is site-specific, commissioned by individuals and organisations. Her work is in private and corporate collections including Claridge’s, The Old War Office Raffles London and the Berkeley Group.
She founded Drawn to Think Differently during COVID, a workshop-based project for adults to rediscover their creative mindset through mark-making. She is also on the advisory committee of international artists’ network ArtCan and publishes a weekly a visual diary blog through her website.
