Artist Biography

Tosin James (Mudb0yy) (b. 1994) is a Nigerian multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans nude photography, video, and painting, using the human form as a profound language of vulnerability, strength, and beauty. A graduate of Statistics(B.Sc) from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye. His work explores the intersection between body, identity, and environment, often merging natural landscapes with raw expressions of humanity to reflect on themes of choice, freedom, and personal pathways.

A self-taught painter, Mudb0yy’s visual storytelling grew deeper in 2017, when he discovered photography and began shaping his artistic voice behind the lens. In 2019, he further refined his skills through a six-month photography program at the Losgiddy School of Photography in Lagos, where he embraced technical mastery while keeping his instinctive, experimental approach.

Central to his work is the celebration of nudity not as provocation, but as authenticity—a medium through which he communicates tenderness, intimacy, and self-acceptance. His paintings often echo the same ethos, blending body forms with natural motifs, landscapes, and symbolic outlines that speak to life’s choices and personal transformation.

Through his multidisciplinary practice, Mudb0yy creates immersive narratives that invite viewers into a space of reflection—whether it be the quiet vulnerability of “Home” or the metaphorical journey in “Pathway.” Each piece embodies his belief that art is not just seen but felt, serving as both mirror and map of the human experience.

Today, Mudb0yy continues to expand his artistic language by merging photography, film, and painting into cohesive expressions of storytelling. His portfolio stands as an evolving testament to his commitment to pushing creative boundaries and offering art that is both intimate and universal.


Artist Statement

My practice explores the intimate connection between the human body, emotion, and environment—a dialogue between vulnerability and self-awareness. As a multidisciplinary artist working across photography, painting, and video, I use nudity not as provocation, but as truth—a language of openness that reveals the raw essence of being.

My journey as an artist began with photography as my first medium of expression. Through the lens, I discovered light as a painter’s brush—capable of sculpting form, revealing inner tension, and capturing the poetry of silence.
