I paint places not as destinations, but as memories.
My work explores the space between a real place and the image of it that remains within us after we leave.
I am drawn to landscapes associated with travel, light, anticipation, and personal memory—places such as the Amalfi Coast, Positano, Greece, Venice, and other locations that have become part of our collective imagination. Yet the geographical location is only the starting point of each painting.
Working through contemporary impressionist oil painting, I transform recognizable landscapes through color, light, atmosphere, and expressive brushwork. Details are simplified, colors are intensified, and reality is allowed to shift toward memory. I am interested in the moment when a specific place stops being merely geographical and becomes emotional.
A journey exists twice: first as an experience, and later as a memory. With time, certain details disappear while others become brighter—the warmth of sunlight on a wall, the color of the sea, a distant street, the feeling of freedom, or the anticipation of discovering somewhere new.
My paintings inhabit this second version of the journey.
They are not intended to function as visual records or travel postcards. They are interpretations of what remains after the journey: fragments of light, atmosphere, longing, joy, and the desire to return.
Through my work, I seek to create paintings that are simultaneously recognizable and personal—images of real places transformed into emotional landscapes that can hold someone else's memory, desire, or imagined journey.
