Vibrating Ink Series portrays an idyllic, dreamlike landscape—a personal response to the rituals I witnessed growing up at rivers and sacred waters, celebrating life’s key moments: birth, death, marriage, and harvest. Gaurii Kumaar is a Dallas-based artist working across painting, sculpture, and installation, whose practice is rooted in her upbringing in India and a sustained engagement with caste, gender, and cultural memory. From her studio in the Tin District of West Dallas, she extends this inquiry beyond the gallery through therapeutic art and yoga workshops at the Crow Museum of Asian Art in Dallas, the National Mall in Washington, DC, and through the City of Frisco’s Cultural Affairs Master Plan — bringing the same questions of belonging and inherited identity that animate her studio work into direct contact with community. Kumar has exhibited at the Amarillo Art Museum Biennial, the Smithsonian-affiliated Irving Arts Center, and Craighead Green Gallery, and presented work at the Texas Vignette Art Fair, curated by Maggie Adler. In 2025–2026, she mounted a major solo at the Eisemann Center Art Gallery and presented Golden Ancestry, her first solo exhibition with James Harris Gallery, Dallas. She is a recipient of the Dallas Museum of Art Otis and Velma Davis Dozier Travel Grant, a DMA McDermott Fellow, and a finalist for the Nasher Sculpture Center Artist Grant.
