About The Artwork
A spectacular California spring inspired me to start this large piece on location and complete in my studio. The sunlight draped the lush hills and the distant mountains. I decided to take a trip back in time and paint the actual highway as a dirt road, to suggest a 19th Century feel. Inspired in part by the work of Caspar David Friedrich.
