Rio de Janeiro, my native city and one of the most striking inhabited landscapes in the world. My photography is very much motivated by the idea of portraying the Anthropocene - The Age of Man. As such, I do not want to concentrate on all the destruction we have caused on our tiny planet (there are plenty of people doing this), but on what is still preserved and on what we, as thinking apes, have achieved over the millennia. The Anthropocene is a biological phenomena, the first time in the planet´s 4.6 billion year history when a species becomes sufficiently powerful to actually change the landscape and even the chemistry of the air and the oceans. Not to mention cause the mass extinction of thousands - perhaps millions - of other species. But we have also achieved miraculous things, things life has never come close to doing in 4.6 billion years. That is what I want to concentrate on, so that we look at ourselves honestly, as both destroyer and creator. Limited edition giclee print on fine art photo paper with pigment inks guaranteed not to fade for at least 200 years. All prints are signed and numbered by me. OTHER SIZES ARE POSSIBLE Please contact me at roberto@robertovamos.com or through Facebook, Instagram or my website for further information.
