This etching, from the 1st of 4 Editions, employs two zinc plates to create one printed image. I incorporated the studio techniques of Aquatint, intaglio, Chine collé, and drypoint, and the plates required four separate Nitric acid baths. Each edition is limited to only five etchings. Moreover, each of the four editions are executed in different color combinations of paper and ink.
I blended three colors of oil base ink, Charbonnel brand from Paris, and printed on RivesBFK white paper. Each etching plate measures 4 inches wide by 6 inches high, or 10.160cm by 15.240cm. The image size is 6 inches high by 8 inches wide, or 15.240cm by 20.320cm. The framed etching is 15 inches wide by 11 inches high, or 38.100cm by 27.940cm. I treated a mulberry bark paper from Thailand with my own blend of methyl cellulose to use in the Chine collé technique.
The artwork was hand printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA within The Open Studio In Printmaking at 705 Christian Street. The scene features a scene from New Orleans. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in mat selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work.
The framed etching is first wrapped and placed into the shipping carton packed with bubble wrap.
NOTE: The SAATCHI ON LINE price includes all handling costs, packing supplies, the shipment box, and ALL Mailing costs.
