During this period, he developed a multidisciplinary practice extending beyond painting into stained glass, sculpture, mosaics and printmaking.
Between 1989 and 1995, he taught life drawing on a weekend programme at Glasgow School of Art. While a member of Glasgow Print Studio, he also worked in etching and lithography. Alongside his studio practice, he worked as a stained glass artist and mosaicist, contributing to a number of architectural commissions in Scotland and England.
Following his move to London in 1995, he established a studio at Cable Street Studios in the Docklands. He later pursued a career in the NHS while maintaining his commitment to painting.
His artistic influences and understanding of art are rooted primarily in the work of Picasso, Velázquez, Van Gogh, Matisse, Rembrandt, Munch, Goya, Richter, Dürer and Old Masters, among others.
