Known for a long time for my fabric sculptures, a few years ago I decided to move the focus of my sculpting from fabric to metal. I have had a lifelong love of metal art but never felt I knew enough about the challenging techniques of working with metal to move into that medium. Being an artist with a first career in engineering, learning is something I enjoy and so what better way to learn about working with metal than to work with it. I was lucky to have been given a workshop course in welding for artists as a birthday present from my husband. After that I was hooked on welding.
There’s nothing more important to me than to work with my hands while learning something new. At the end of a good day in the studio is one that I’ve learned something and created something. I’ve made mistakes but they have resulted in many successes.
