Contact us.Vigo’s creations examine points of contact between fragmentation and connection, drawing from rupture to craft forms of vitality. Her practice begins with text: poems painted densely, without spacing, until language slips toward the edge of unreadability. The words dissolve into material, leaving behind a faint resonance of feeling.
For Vigo, material is a vessel of memory, holding layers of time, fragility, and the possibility of reconstruction. She paints her poems on silk or on slowly absorbing paper, using diluted ink or acrylic. As the material dries and shifts, she waits; the process becomes a quiet, meditative act.
Her sculptures evolve through a technique she developed herself, using a self-made composite of cement, sand, glue, and other materials, applied with a squeeze bottle that functions as a brush. Each sculpture is singular. Because she does not measure quantities or record formulas, she cannot repeat a gesture. Drying, shrinking, cracking, and reshaping are integral to the work. What breaks remains; what withstands merges into a whole.
Suspended on threads, the sculptures appear almost like living figures—fragile, dependent, yet held in balance through relation. Through shifts in scale, Vigo tests the boundaries of control, expanding the small into the monumental and granting weight to what is delicate.
At the heart of her practice is an understanding of text as material action. Through addition, enlargement, the play of Hebrew letters, and the shifting of their positions, a new alphabet—and perhaps even a new language—emerges. This personal language is grounded in more than twenty years of artistic research, as well as a lifelong relationship with writing: Vigo has kept a diary since the age of ten.
In both her poetry and her sculptural practice, words and materials are tested, stretched, broken, and reassembled. Every mark, crack, fold, and trace preserves the history of its formation. Traces are not leftovers; they are the essence of actions that once took place.
As language fractures and structure melts, one thread persists: a thread of compassion.
